Alex J. Hechlinski

December 8, 1906 – June 7, 1981

Alex J. Hechlinski, 74, of 5109 Scenic, died at 8:50am Sunday in St Joseph’s Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  He was a retired maintenance man at the University of Notre Dame.  He was born on December 8, 1906, in South Bend, and had lived here all his life.  On November 11, 1929, in South Bend, he married Sophie Piechorowski, who survives.  Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Holewczynski, Mrs. Jeanette Lasiewicz and Mrs. Stella Polyen, all of South Bend.

Services will be at 10am Wednesday in St Adalbert’s Catholic Church.  Rev. Eugene J. Kazmierczak, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and from noon to 9pm Tuesday at the St Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Tuesday.  He was a WW II veteran.
