MISHAWAKA - Calvin Heckman, 82 of Mishawaka, passed away
on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the home of his caring and
loving son, Cal and his wife Arla Heckman Jr., in Brighton MI.
Calvin was born on March 2, 1925, in South Bend to John and
Katherine (Dauer) Heckman. Both parents preceded him in
death.
Calvin married the former Louise H. Olson
in South Bend, IN. on July 6, 1956, in South Bend. Louise passed
away on October 27, 1998. Calvin is survived by his four
children; stepdaughter, Michele Kristin Torrey of Colten,
CA, Toni Louise Heckman of Rockford, IL; stepson, Brian H. Leuthold
of Waterford, PA and Calvin (Arla) Heckman Jr., of Brighton MI.
Calvin was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren. Calvin is
also survived by two brothers, Cloyde (Lois) Heckman of
Lakeville, Terry (Virginia) Heckman of South Bend; and by three
sisters, Beverly Kelver and Shirley (Walt) Carter,
both from Osceola, and Sharon Kindt of South Bend. Calvin
is preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll, Clifford, Clem
and Carl Heckman; and two sisters, Doris Andrade and Marge
Jones. Calvin served his country honorably in the United
States Army during World War II. Calvin retired from Uniroyal as
a production worker in 1986 after 33 years of service.
The family will receive friends on Sunday,
January 6, 2008, from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel,
3910 N. Main, Mishawaka, IN. The funeral service will be held on
Monday, January 7, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial
is to follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.
