Ray E. Heeter

Ray E. Heeter, 69, of 1005 S. Carlton Street, died about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness. He worked 30 years for Preston Truck Lines, retiring in 1981. He was born Sept. 16, 1918, in Ligonier.

 

On Feb. 24, 1944 he married Ruth Quimby, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Betzer of Tempe, Ariz., Marcia Dillon of Plainfield, Ind., a son Dan of Tempe; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, June Adkins and Opal Smith, both of Mishawaka; and a brother, George of Cassopolis.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hahn’s-DeVos Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Teamsters Local 364, the American Legion, Mishawaka Post  161, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mishawaka Post 360.
