Forrest Heflick, 77, of Brummit Lane, South Bend, Ind., died following a brief illness at 4 a.m. on Friday, August 7, in Hospice House. He was born in St. Joseph, Mich., on Oct. 4, 1920, and had lived in this area since 1942, coming from LaPorte, Ind.

He married the former Oleita Coleman on Dec. 6, 1945 in Fort Wayne; she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sandra Canoot of South Bend and Penny (Ted) Leverman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sons, Craig (Jeanne) Coleman of Osceola, Ind. and Barry Heflick of Mishawaka, Ind.; a sister, Violet Jurgenson of South Bend; a brother, John (Dorothy) Fredrick of Mishawaka; and by 11 grandchildren, Colleen Coleman, Chad Coleman, Paul Hamilton, Shannon Lawrence, Tiffany Brewer, Kelly Canoot, Destiny Canoot, Jason Heflick, Danny Vergauwen, Jaime Heflick and Justin Heflick.

Private services will be held for Mr. Heflick with burial in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County. Bubb Funeral Chapel North is handling arrangements.
