George R. Heim

May 13, 1909 - Aug. 27, 1996

Services for George R. Heim, 87, of 403 W. Maple St., North Liberty, Ind., who passed away at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after a two-year illness, will be at 2 p.m., Friday, in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with Rev. Joan Haney officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., today, and 9 a.m. until services, Friday in the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by the North Liberty Lodge 266 at 7 p.m., today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

Mr. Heim was born May 13, 1909, in North Liberty, to George and Cora Ellen (Ort) Heim. On Feb. 28, 1932, in LaPorte, Ind., he married Katherine McQuisten, who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Spier of North Liberty; five sons, Gerald of South Bend, and Alfred, Kris, Robert and James of North liberty; two sisters, Naomi Huff of North Liberty and Hazel Beldon of Mishawaka; two brothers, Bill and Alfred, both of Walkerton, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Richard ''Muggs'', a brother, John, and two sisters, Fern and Blanche.

He was a 52-year member of the Masonic Lodge 266, North Liberty, a 25-year member of the North Liberty Fire Department and president of the North Liberty Town Board for 16 years.
