William Anthony Heiser

William Anthony Heiser, 75, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 in the Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Florida, after a brief illness. William was born on December 12, 1926 in Mishawaka to the late William and Gertrude (Bayes) Heiser, Sr. Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Betty Nagle, Josephine Burket and Margaret Bernhardt.

 

On May 3, 1947, William married the former Helen M. Kuhn, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Kenneth) Botka and Susan M. (Anthony) Escher, both of Mishawaka, two sons, Jerry M. (Jane) Heiser of Valparaiso and Lawrence J. (Mary) Heiser of Auburndale, Florida, twelve grandchildren, a great granddaughter, two sister, Catherine Redman of South Bend and Marjorie (William) Vervaet of Mishawaka, and a brother, Frederick C. (Ruth) Heiser of Bremen, IN. William was a lifelong resident of Mishawaka and began wintering in Florida in 1982. He and Helen took permanent residence in Punta Gorda, Florida in 1995. He retired in 1982 after 37 years of service from the Mishawaka Post Office where he was the Superintendent of mail. William was a WWII Army veteran, a member of the VFW Post 360 and the Knights of Columbus Council 1878. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and a member of its Alumni Association.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
