Barbara S. Heitkamp, 56, of Blue Jay Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 4, 1944, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Nov. 16, 1963, in South Bend, as Barbara Reece, she married Ralph Dean Heitkamp, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Laura (Bob) Labis of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a son, Darel (Tawnya) Heitkamp of Fishers, Ind.; her mother, Betty (Henico) Rudduck of South Bend; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Kiley, Kolynn and Gage; and by one sister, Linda Hoke of North Liberty, Ind. Mrs. Heitkamp was preceded in death by her father, Charles Reece; and by a brother, Fred Reece.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
