Charles A. Hemenway

SOUTH BEND - Charles A. Hemenway, 82, of South Pulaski Street, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Hemenway retired in 1977 from Sibley Foundry after 26 years of service. He was born July 21, 1912, in Watertown, N.Y., and lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from New York.

 

On June 17, 1939, in Angola, Ind., he married Glenna M. Stumpf. She died Dec. 8, 1992. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth J. Hemenway and Patricia Wilson, both of South Bend; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Wilmer B. of Daytona Beach, Fla.

 

He was a graduate of Tri-State University and a member of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553, New England Historical & Genealogical Society, South Bend Area Genealogical Society and International Amateur Radio Society.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. Memorial contributions may be made to the church repair fund.
