Frances L. Hendrickson, 85, of 28th Street, South Bend, passed away at 2:52 a.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006, in Hospice House in South Bend. She was born on June 11, 1920, in South Bend to the late Clyde and Bertha (Stewart) Leonard and has been a lifelong area resident.

On August 17, 1941 in South Bend she married Raymond E. Hendrickson who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Julia K. (Philip) Rotzien of Paw Paw, MI, Valerie L. DeDual of Ladson, SC; two sons, Mark A. (Mary) Hendrickson of Gary, IN, and Bruce J. (Laurie) Hendrickson of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren, Stephen (Joanne) Smith, Julie (Bradford) Casper, Stephen (Christina) Moroney, Brian Moroney, Jared Rotzien, Carrie Hendrickson and Ryan Hendrickson; three great-grandchildren, Spencer Smith, Lindsey and Colin Moroney; a sister-in-law, Peg Webb; and a dear friend, Elaine Kuespert. A sister, Janis Leonard and a grandson, Philip Rotzien preceded in death.

Frances was a graduate of South Bend Central High School. She was a member of the American Legion Aux., Rebekah Lodge, and the River Park United Methodist Church. Frances retired in 1985 from South Bend Toy after 16 years of service. She was a volunteer for many years for the Meals on Wheels program and the former Budget Corner where she had many friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Rev. Kathy Miller will officiate. A private burial of Frances's cremated remains will take place at Christie Lake Cemetery, Lawrence MI, which is near her summer cottage where she enjoyed many special times. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
