Sister Mary Carina Hennessey CSC

Sister Mary Carina CSC, died at Saint Mary’s Convent this morning after an extended illness. She was born May Hennessey in 1875 in Limerick, Ireland. She came to the United States in 1891 to enter the Sisters of the Holy Cross and received the habit the same year. She made her profession of vows in 1897.During her community life she was stationed at Logansport; and Morris, Ill.; and from 1921 to 1955 at St. Mary’s College. She had been in retirement at the convent since 1955.Survivors include a sister, Sister Mary Beatrix CSC, at St. Mary’s Convent; and a brother Rev. John Hennessey CSC, of Dacca, East Pakistan.

 

Tentative funeral arrangements call for a requiem mass and burial Monday morning at St. Mary’s. The body is in the convent parlor.
