MISHAWAKA - Edna Henningfeld 100, of South Ironwood,
Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, July 15th, in
Caring Junction, Mishawaka. Edna was born June 22, 1908, in
Hallsville, IL, to Henry and Minnie (Gardner) Barnett.
In South Bend on June 13, 1936, as Edna Barnett, she married
Francis J. Henningfeld, who died April 28, 1999. She was also
preceded in death by her son, Daniel G. Henningfeld; a sister,
Helen Shobe; and four brothers, Walter, Roger, Jim and
Melvin Barnett. Edna is survived by a daughter, Susan Henningfeld
Hentz of Crystal Lake, Illinois; a son, William F. (Pat)
Henningfeld of Granger, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Brad
Henningfeld, Tara (Jamie) Spivey, Shandra (Juan) Galvan,
Lisa (Neal) Roller, Andrew (Liz) Henningfeld, Christina
(Tracy) Downey, Katherine (Jason) Higinbotham and
Brent Henningfeld; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Spangler
of Valparaiso, Indiana. Edna loved to play bridge, work crossword
puzzles, and spending time with her loving grandchildren. She was
a member of D.A.R. and Schoolmen's Wives Club. Edna spent her
last days under the loving and watchful eye of the Caring
Junction staff.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, Indiana. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home, with a Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. In Edna's memory, contributions may be made to Caring Junction Inc., 1430 S.
