Sarah Herczeg (Sept. 17, 1902-Jan. 20, 1994)

SOUTH BEND - Sarah Herczeg, 91, of Bruce Street, died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Herczeg worked at the University of Notre Dame. She was born Sept. 17, 1902, in Sopron, Megye Peresteg, Hungary, and lived in this area since 1913, coming from Hungary. On June 9, 1922, in South Bend, as Sarah Mester, she married Joseph Herczeg. He died July 17, 1961. Surviving are a daughter, Rose Mary Bognar of South Bend; a son, Joseph of South Bend; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Gaby Anderson of South Bend; and three brothers, Joseph Mester of Bradenton, Fla., John Mester and Nicholas Mester, both of South Bend. She was a member of St. Ann Society, Sacred Heart Rosary Society, and Harvest House.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a combined rosary will be said at 3 p.m. by St. Ann Society, Sacred Heart Rosary Society, and Harvest House.
