Robert Eugene Hesch

MISHAWAKA - Robert E. Hesch, 69, of S. Main St., passed away at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, after an extended illness. Mr. Hesch was born on July 3, 1927, in Mishawaka, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident.

 

On Dec. 31, 1948, in Bremen, Ind., he married Helen D. Volmer. Mr. Hesch is survived by three daughters, Connie Knapp of South Bend, Darlene Adams of Rockville, Ind., daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Shivley of Etna Green, Ind., three sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert A. and Vikki Hesch, Timothy L. and Janet Hesch and Jeffery and Cindy Hesch, all of Mishawaka; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

 

Mr. Hesch was employed by the Selmer Company in Elkhart, Ind., as an assembler for 30 years and retired in 1989. Mr. Hesch was a member of B.K. Club, DeAmicis Club, Mishawaka, Veterans of Foreign War Post 360 and United Auto Workers.

 

Friends may call Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. Cremation to follow. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437 or the American Cancer Society, 404 S.
