Charles R. Hesse

Feb. 25, 1927 - Aug. 10, 1998

Charles R. Hesse, 71, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in his residence.

Mr. Hesse was born on Feb. 25, 1927, in Wray, Colo., and had lived in South Bend for 15 years, coming from Indianapolis, Ind.

He retired in December 1991 as a psychologist employed with Healthwin Hospital as the director of the Head Injury Program. He was also a director of the Job Training Program for the State of Indiana.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Fisher-Hesse; a son, Rolfe Hesse; three stepsons, George, Ryan and Jeremy Westfall; and by six grandsons and two granddaughters, all of South Bend.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Hesse on Oct. 29, 1997.

Mr. Hesse was a World War II veteran, and was a member of the Master Gardening Club. He was a volunteer at AARP, serving as the Community Health Coordinator, and as a tutor for the South Bend Literacy Council.
