Norman M. Hezlep

Norman M. Hezlep, 68, passed away, after a lengthy illness, in his home on North Adams Street at 4 p.m. on Friday,. He had been a resident of South Bend, Ind., since 1955. He was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Norman H. and Eunice M. Hezlep.

 

On May 30, 1949, in Chicago, he married Loretta J. McMahon, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Mary Eunice (Terry) Crothers and Susan J. (Greg) Parker, both of Osceola, Ind; two sons, Norman M. (Barb) Hezlep and Mark P. Hezlep, both of South Bend; three grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and by a brother, J. Fred ''Ted'' Hezlep of Lake Carroll, Ill. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barry Hezlep.

 

A member of the U.S. Naval reserves, he received an honorable discharge in July 1951. Before his retirement, he was a carpet buyer and salesman for J.E. Walz and a salesman for various van conversion companies. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, of the South Bend Junior Chamber of Commerce, of the Holy Cross Church Usher's Club, and of South Bend Turners.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at McGann Funeral Home, Edison Road Chapel, where a parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in Corpus Christi Church, where Norman was a member. Father Richard Shannon, a cousin, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
