Daisy G. Higdon

March 21, 1916 - Feb. 17, 2000

Daisy Glenn Higdon, 83, of Filbert Road, Granger, Ind., died in Community Hospital of Bremen at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.

She was born on March 21, 1916 in Britt, Iowa to Gladys (Bailey) and William E. Fillenwarth, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Nov. 28, 1940 in Britt, as Daisy Glenn Fillenwarth, she married Paul Austin Higdon who survives. Mrs. Higdon is also survived by three daughters, Linda (Larry) Bennett of South Bend, Ind., Joan (Michael) Godfrey of Lakeville, Ind., and Janell (Steve) Miller of Bremen; a son, Ronald (Linda) Higdon of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Janet Smith of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Karon Cason of South Bend, Carol Brooks of South Bend, David Godfrey of West Lafayette, Ind., Diana and Brian Godfrey of Lakeville, Ind., Patrick Higdon of Mishawaka, Ind., and Jeffrey Higdon of Niles, Mich.; and by 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Higdon was a baker for Penn High School for 12 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member and past matron of the St. Joseph Chapter #569 of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Services for Mrs. Higdon will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. Larry Whiteford will conduct the services. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, in the funeral home, where an Eastern Star services will be held at 5:30 p.m.
