Edward Higginson

August 13,1919 - November 23,2002

Edward Higginson, 83, of Osceola, passed away on Saturday, November 23, in the Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on August 13,1919 to the late Josephine (Sanger) and Hale Higginson.

 

He married Virginia Mikel on July 1,1939 in Mishawaka. Edward retired from the Wheelabrator/Frye Co. after 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, who took great joy in sharing his love of nature with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling to new locations including Alaska and Canada, in search of great fishing. He leaves behind his wife, Virginia, and their three children; Col. George (Ellie) Higginson, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Paul (Vicki) Higginson, of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Venetta (Hubert) Lowry, of Elkhart. Also surviving are five grandsons; Lee, Mark, and Curtis Lowry, all of Elkhart, Indiana, James Higginson, of Osceola, Indiana, and Joe Higginson, of Greenwood, Indiana: along with five great grandchildren; Kaylee, Tyler, Brooks, and Allie Jo Higginson, all of Osceola, and Sean Lowry, of Elkhart. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helen McConahay, his brother, Donald Higginson, and a grandson, David Lowry.

 

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. today, November 25, and one hour prior to the service, which is to be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Officiating the service will be Rev. Brian Beeks, of the Osceola United Methodist Church. Burial is to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
