Pauline A. Hiler

MISHAWAKA - Pauline A. Hiler, 92, formerly of Mishawaka, went to be with the Lord during the early morning hours of November 15 in the Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. Pauline was born in Mason Township MI, the eldest child of Lewis E. and Bertha (Buck) Rhoades. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School class of 1935. Pauline lived in Mishawaka for 66 years. She was employed at the Singer Company in Elkhart for many years. She attended Grace Brethren Church in Osceola, and was a member of the church's Golden Gracer's.

 

On February 14, 1937, in Kokomo, IN, she married Clark E. Hiler, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Alan Hiler; a son-in-law, Melvin Gaugler; a granddaughter, Monica Horne; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Fulmer; and two brothers, Wilbur and Phillip Rhoades; along with two sisters, Phyllis Selesky and Evelyn Kelver. Pauline is survived by six children, Sally A. Gaugler of Mishawaka, C. Edward (Karen Sue) Hiler of Walkerton, Carol (John) Marx of Dowagiac, Jack (Kathy) Hiler of Osceola, Linda (Jerry) Glass of Montevideo, Uruguay, South America, and Pamela (Richard) Steinborn of West Allis, WI. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 18 from 3 until 7 p.m., and on Monday from 10 until 11 a.m., in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services celebrating Pauline's life will be held at 11 am, Monday November 19, in the funeral chapel, with Rev. Kevin Gaugler, and Pastor Greg Serafino officiating. Burial is to follow at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
