Clara V. Hillebrand

Clara V. Hillebrand, 88, formerly of Eighth Street in Mishawaka, Ind., died of a prolonged illness Wednesday, Nov. 20, in her daughter's home, in South Bend, Ind., where she resided for several years. As Clara Hornung, she was born to Theodore and Catharine (Bueche) Hornung, in Mishawaka, on January 10, 1908.

 

On October 17, 1925, she married Herbert P. Hillebrand, who preceded her in death in 1980. Clara is survived by seven children, Paul of Mishawaka, James of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kathryn Kessler of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael of LaGrange, Ga., Fredric of Valrico, Fla., Herbert of Junction City, Calif., and Carolyn Kowalski of South Bend; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Isabelle Seymour and Bertilla Andrews of South Bend; and two brothers, John Hornung of Akron, Ind. and Frank Hornung of Royal Oak, Mich. She was preceded in death by a grandson, George, and a brother, William of California.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association
