Samuel Dale Hillier

Samuel Dale Hillier, aged 60, of 435 Edgewater drive, Mishawaka, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday in his hotel room, in New York city where he was on a week's buying trip for Ellsworth's Department Store, 111 North Michigan street. He left South Bend last Saturday afternoon. He had been with Ellsworth's for more than 15 years.

Hillier was born July 5, 1890, in South Bend, and had always lived in either South Bend or Mishawaka. He married Miss Carol Eberhart, July 14, 1921, in Mishawaka. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James G. Perkins, of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Forest Hillier, of South Bend, and Glen Hillier, of Long Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Miss Ada Hillier, Mrs. H. C. Kreighbaum and Mrs. Carl W. Ginz, all of South Bend; and two grandchildren, Ellen and Nancy Perkins, children of Mrs. Perkins.

Friends may call at the residence in Mishawaka after 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the residence and will be private.

 

Burial will be in the Mishawaka city cemetery. Hillier, a veteran of World War I, was a member of Mishawaka American Legion post No. 161 and also of Beta Theta Phi fraternity, South Bend.

Funeral services for Samuel D. Hillier, aged 60, of 435 Edgewater drive, who died Friday afternoon in his hotel room in New York City, were held at 2:30 p.m. today in the residence. Burial was in Mishawaka City cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Earle J. W. Fink, Frederick C. Ellsworth, Arthur N. Shidler, Karl V. Crofoot, Neil V. Robertson, and Hugh Woolverton. Glenn D. Babcock was reader for the private service.
