Sister Marie Bernard Hill CSC

Sister Marie Bernard (Mildred Marcella Hill), CSC, 89, was born in Kokomo, Ind., to the late Leonard Hill and Evelyn Dluzak Hill. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Sister will be remembered fondly by her many friends.

 

Sister received her early education at St. Joseph's Academy, South Bend, IN, and worked as housekeeper before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. After entering the Congregation, Sister was employed in Ancillary Services in a number of convents in Indiana and Illinois.

 

She retired in 1981 to Our Lady of Holy Cross, South Bend, IN, and spent time assisting her sister, Anna Marie Wisniewski, in the care of their father until his death in 1984. Sister Marie Bernard returned to Our Lady of Holy Cross, South Bend, where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer and internal activities of the convent. She moved in 1992 to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Ind., where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

 

Wake service will be at 4 p.m. today, May 10, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
