Josephine Hacker Hilton

MISHAWAKA - Josephine Hacker Hilton, 72, of South Spring Street, formerly of South St. Louis Boulevard, South Bend, died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday in her home. Mrs. Hilton was the former owner/operator of Squeeze Kitchenette, South Bend, and retired in the early 1970s from Osco Drugs. She was born June 14, 1921, in Louisville, Ky., and lived in South Bend most of her life.

 

On June 30, 1965, in South Bend, she married Wayne Hilton. He died Aug. 19, 1979. She is survived by a son, Timothy Hacker, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, Walter J. Hacker III of Savannah, Tenn., Bonnie Lewis of Lynchburg, Tenn., and Candace Jo Wright, Cynthia Hacker, and Stefanie Scott, all of South Bend; and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Walter J. Hacker Jr., died June 29, 1987. She was a member of Christian Center, Michiana Organ Club and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2.

 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Center Feed the Hungry Program.
