MISHAWAKA - Dorothy Irene Hindsley, 90, of Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend, died at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, in Fountainview Nursing Home following an illness. Mrs. Hindsley was born May 14, 1918, in Kansas, to the late Hugh and Christina (Anderson) Hainey, and had lived in the South Bend area for the last 52 years, coming from Fresno, CA. On January 4, 1942, in Las Vegas, NV, as Dorothy I. Hainey, she married Walter E. Hindsley, who preceded her in death December 4, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Edwin Hainey. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (George) Bobilya of Albion, IN, and Susan (Paul Burrows) of South Bend; one son, William E. (Patrice) Hindsley of South Bend; four grandchildren, Laura, Amy, Nick and Chris; three great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Walt and Lena; and one brother, Marlin "Bud" (Janice) Hainey of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Dorothy was the consummate housewife and was all about taking care of her family. She loved to work in her garden and putz around the house, taking loving care of her best buddies, her dogs. She also served as a volunteer at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Paul Wallace of Body of Christ Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
