Sister M. Noemi Hines CSC

Sister M. Noemi CSC, died at 9 a.m. today in the St. Mary’s Convent at Notre Dame. She had a long illness. She was born Bridget Hines, daughter of Margaret Glynn and James Hines, Oct 20, 1871 in Kewana, Ind. She entered the Congregation of Sister of the Holy Cross in 1907 and made her profession of final vows in 1913.

 

During her community life she had been assigned to Baltimore, Md., Washington, D.C.., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Boise, Idaho. For 32 years she was assigned to Our Savior’s Hospital, Cairo, Ill. In 1954 she retired to St. Mary’s Convent because of ill health.

 

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Michael Downey of Chicago and Mrs. Julia Quatman of Indianapolis, and a brother Michael Hines of Kewana.

 

Requiem mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church at St. Mary’s. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, at St. Mary’s Friends are being received in the Convent parlors until time for services.
