SOUTH BEND - Helen E. Hitson, 78, of U.S. 31 South, South Bend, Ind., died at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, in Hospice House, South Bend.

 

Helen was born on Nov. 29, 1911, in South Bend, to Raymond and Pauline (Larson) Rhodes, and lived all of her life in the area.

 

She had been a beautician and had operated the Kountry Kurl and Kolor in South Bend. She was a member of the St. Joseph County Hairdressers Association and Ridgedale Presbyterian Church.

 

She was married to Charles V. Hitson, who preceded her in death in 1962.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Jay) Clark of South Bend; two sons, Michael C. Hitson of Noblesville, Ind., and Dennis P. (Mary Margaret) Hitson of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend.

 

Funeral services for Helen E. Hitson will be held 11 a.m. on Monday in the Ridgedale Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Harris Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.

 

Donations in memory of Helen E. Hitson may be made to the Ridgedale Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
