James Hixenbaugh

MISHAWAKA - Services for James Hixenbaugh, 69, of Fir Road, who died at 12:53 p.m. Friday in his home of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home for Children.

 

Mr. Hixenbaugh retired from the Mishawaka Parks Department. He was born May 5, 1925, in Mishawaka.

 

On Dec. 30, 1984, in Mishawaka, he married Edna Barrett. She survives with four sons, James, John, Joseph and Jules, addresses unknown; three stepdaughters, Karen True of Missouri, Carol Chojnacki of South Bend, and Connie Williams of Tennessee; three stepsons, Curtis Barrett and Chris Barrett, both of South Bend, and Sgt. Craig Barrett of Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Gavin of South Bend, Patricia Hixenbaugh and Margaret Krueger, both of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Edward Scott of Mishawaka, Dennis of Pittsburgh and Ralph of Hemit, Calif.

 

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360 and the Teamsters Union.
