Sister M. Jeanine Hodges CSC, 71, of Streeter, Ill., died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. She was born June 10, 1921 in Chicago as Margaret Eugenia Hodges. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Feb. 4, 1940; was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1940; and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1942. She was assigned to teaching elementary grades, and taught at Holy Cross School in South Bend from 1942 to 1951; she also taught in Morris, Peoria, Harvard and Chicago, all in Illinois. She served as a principal in several schools. She was assigned religious education coordinator at St. Mary’s Parish in Niles from 1978 to 1986, and was pastoral associate and director of religious education at St. Anthony’s Parish in Streeter, Ill. She is survived by five sisters and a brother, all of Chicago.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial following in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the convent parlors.
