Marion C. Hoffman, 69, of Riverside Drive in South Bend, Ind., died of natural causes at 1 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on July 16, 1930, in South Bend, to the late Alex and Josephine (Novak) Hoffman, and remained a lifelong resident. Mr. Hoffman was retired from the Uniroyal Company. On Feb. 9, 1985, in South Bend, he married Rita M. Banacki, who survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Denise Pellow Douglas of Beech Grove, Ind., and Monica DeLeon of Mishawaka, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Janice B. Lappin of Mishawaka and Joan K. Calvin of Mishawaka; a stepson, Gerald S. Banacki of South Bend; a granddaughter and nine grandsons; five sisters, Rose Ann Gregory of Mishawaka, Betty Nagy of Niles, Mich., Mary Jane Pittanger of Mishawaka, Elaine Rzepka of Niles and Dorothy Strychalski of South Bend; and by two brothers, Ray Hoffman of South Bend and Richard Hoffman of Mishawaka. Mr. Hoffman was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Aerie #2083 in Mishawaka, American Legion Post #50, and he was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Camillo Tirabassi officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 3, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, Memorial & Tributes Program, Dept. 77-3968, Chicago, IL 60678-3968; or to the Corpus Christi School Building Fund, 2822 Corpus Christi Drive, South Bend, IN 46628.
