William T. Hofmann

GRANGER - William T. Hofmann, 85, of Granger, died in his home on Monday, June 16, 2008. Bill was born in Oak Park, IL, on July 25, 1922, to William and Pearl (Day) Hofmann. He married the former Lillian Wulf in Mishawaka on March 15, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Lillian, who died September 28, 1997, a brother, Harvey Hofmann Sr., and a sister, Jeanette Taylor. He is survived by a sister, Eileen Hofmann of South Bend; a treasured friend, Ginny Collins; four nephews, James Taylor, Budd Taylor, Harvey Hofmann Jr. and Bill (Kathie) Taylor; several nieces and nephews, and a great-great-nephew. Mr. Hofmann retired from Uniroyal in 1985 where he had been employed for 30 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, being honorably discharged in 1945. Bill was a past commander of VFW Post #360 and a past chaplain of the Burial Unit.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 19th, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Bubb Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gene Ebright officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
