Ann Margaret Holewinski

Ann Margaret Holewinski, 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in her home. Mrs. Holewinski was born on April 13, 1918, in South Bend, IN, to August and Mamie DeBlase.

 

On May 23, 1953, in Holy Cross Church, as Ann Margaret DeBlase, she married Eugene W. Holewinski, who survives. Also surviving are her two daughters, Pamela (Hariharan) Iyer of Fort Collins, CO, Elizabeth (Robert) Green of Spring, TX; her son, Christopher (Susan) Holewinski of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Kristin and Geoffrey Iyer, Elaine and Chloe Holewinski, Robert and Matthew Green; her great-grandson, Scott Iyer; and her brother, August DeBlase of South Bend, IN. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Anthony and Edward; and a grandson, Kevin.

 

At the request of Ann, there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to join with the family for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, IN. Mrs. Holewinski was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and had attended St. Mary's College. She was a volunteer at the Center for the Homeless, Leighton Center, St. Joseph High School, Right to Life, and Sacred Heart Parish. She enjoyed reading and the companionship of her family, friends and neighbors. She had extensively traveled the United States and other countries throughout the world. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ann Holewinski memorial fund, c/o Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN 46628, which will be distributed to charitable organizations that she supported and was committed to serve. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
