Charles K. Hamood  

Charles K. Homood, 69, of 716 Marietta St., died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after a month's illness. He was born in Syria on Sept. 22, 1898, and had lived most of his life time in South Bend and Mishawaka, coming  here from Syria as a boy. He retired from the Lien Chemical Co., in 1966. He married Elizabeth Doryer in Goshen in 1953. She died last April. Survivors include five sons, Glenn, Raymond E., Robert D., Charles Jr. and Joseph E. Hamood, all of Elkhart; three daughters, Mrs. John Van Scoyk and Mrs. Robert Willings, both of Edwardsburg, and Mrs. John McLain of Elkhart; a step daughter, Mrs. Elmer Kauffman, of Niles; two sisters, Mrs. Romise Siade of Mishawaka and a sister in Syria; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 7  p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, where services will be held at 11 a.m.  Wednesday with Rev. J. Thomas Frost, pastor of the First United Methodist church, Mishawaka, officiating. Burial will be in Prairie St. Cemetery, Elkhart.
