Carl C. Honold

April 29, 1915 - July 26, 2000

Carl C. Honold, 85, of West Ninth Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 7:37 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

Mr. Honold was born on April 29, 1915, in Mishawaka, as the son of the late Edward and Mary (Barth) Honold. He was a lifelong area resident. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Honold, Martin Honold and Frederick Honold; and by two sisters, Henrietta Doll and Helen Doll.

On Sept. 20, 1941, in Mishawaka, he married the former Betty J. Parcell. Mr. Honold is survived by Betty, his wife of 58 years; a daughter, Marsha (Tom) Weaver of Elkhart, Ind.; a son, Gary (Ruth) Honold of Missoula, Mont.; two granddaughters, Tracey Johnson and Rebecca Weaver; two grandsons, Gary Honold and Jonathan; five great-grandchildren, Hailey Johnson, Tristan Johnson, Kelsey Honold, Thomas Honold and Christopher Honold; and by a sister, Elizabeth Yoder of Fort Myers, Fla.

He graduated from Mishawaka High School. Mr. Honold was employed by Hibschman Pontiac for 28 years, and retired in 1984 from Thermoplastics. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Honold was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #360, Mishawaka, and was a member of A.A.R.P.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 28, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, where wake prayers will be at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.

Mr. Honold's family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437; to St. Bavo's Catholic Church 2000 Project, 511 W. 7th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the charity of donor's choice.
