Peter Hoose

MISHAWAKA – Peter Hoose of 1005 North Margaret Street, and pioneer resident and prominent in the Baptist Church of Mishawaka, died at 5:30 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital, following an operation for strangulated hernia. He was born in Germany Aug. 17, 1841, being 72 years old. He came to Mishawaka 50 years ago from Massilion, Ohio.

 

In 1868 he was married to Miss Anna Heifer of Bremen, Ind. who survives him. Mr. Hoose was employed by the Mishawaka Woolen Manufacturing Company since 1883 and was a foreman. The pioneer has long been a devout member of the Baptist Church, and for years has been chairman of the board of trustees. He was also a member of the building committee.

 

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. George Well, Bremen; three brothers, Henry of Nutwood; Jacob of Osceola, and Phillip of South Bend; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Bhreininger, at home, Mrs. H>E. Minzey of Buchanan, Mich., and Mrs. L.F. Wickizer of Mishawaka; and two sons, William and G. E. Hoose of Mishawaka.

 

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the residence at 2 o’clock and at the Baptist Church at 2:30. Rev. T.J. Giblett officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
