Ruby C. Hoose

Ruby C. Hoose, 91, of South Ironwood Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in St. Paul's Retirement Community Health Care Center, South Bend.

Ruby was born on April 3, 1912, in Slaughters, Ky., as the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Thompkins) Williams.

On Jan. 28, 1933, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Ind., as Ruby Williams, she married Howard H. Hoose, who preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Hoose on Oct. 9, 1994.

Ruby is survived by two sons, Robert (Nancy) Hoose of Bangor, Mich., and Richard (Pamela) Hoose of Pinckney, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Lauretta Hoose of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Jean Handlang, Deborah Gargus, Janet Garvison, Rebecca De Grandchamp, Sandra Botka, William Hoose, Karen Hupp, Angela McKinley and Michael Hoose; 21 great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Curtis Williams of Evansville, Ind.

Ruby was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Harvest House, and the National Catholic Order of Foresters.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
