SOUTH BEND - Rev. John J. Hooyboer, CSC, 86, of Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday in his residence. Rev. Hooyboer entered the novitiate on July 1, 1925; professed his first vows July 2, 1926; made perpetual profession July 2, 1929; and was ordained as a priest June 24, 1934. He was born April 27, 1908, in Heerhugowaard, North Holland, Netherlands. After his ordination, he served in Portland, Ore., for 59 years as a teacher and at numerous administrative posts at the University of Portland. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Holy Cross College, Washington, D.C., and the University of Oregon.
