Sister M. Rose Estelle Hopfinger CSC

Sister M. Rose Estelle CSC, of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Died early this morning in Saint Mary’s Convent after a long illness. As Eulalie Estelle Hopfinger, she was born in 1896 in Port Clinton, Ohio. She received her education in Port Clinton, and graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1917. She entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Cross that year and received her habit. She made her profession of vows in 1919. She taught at St. Mary’s College; St. Cecelia’s Academy in Washington DC,; and also held teaching posts in Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and New Jersey. She retired to St. Mary’s within the last few years. Survivors include a niece, Sister M. Cecelia Ann CSC, of Dunbarton College in Washington DC.

 

Friends may call at St. Mary’s Convent parlors. A requiem high mass will be said at 6 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both on the campus.
