SOUTH BEND - Esther R. Horvath, 77, of Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Myrtle Road, died at 6:53 a.m. today in the nursing center. Mrs. Horvath retired from L.S. Ayres and was a former employee of St. Joseph's Medical Center and Bendix Corp.

She was born May 2, 1918, in South Bend. In South Bend, as Esther Horn, she married Joseph J. Horvath. He died in 1985. She is survived by a daughter, Bev Matthys of South Bend; a son, Ronald of New York; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

St. Joseph Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
