Aline Hazel Hoskins

Mrs. Aline Hazel Hoskins, 72, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, who resided on North Ironwood, South Bend, Ind., passed away following an extended illness at 5:50 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. On Dec. 25, 1925, she was born in Reeves, Tenn., to the union of Andy and Addie (Swinney) Carpenter, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Carpenter, and by a niece, Susan Ivory. Coming from Buchanan, Mich., in 1954, she moved to South Bend. She retired from Holy Cross in 1977 after seven years of employment. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Carpenter and Shelia (Billy) Perry; a son, Johnny Ray Carpenter; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Minnie Hughes and Flora Richardson, all of South Bend, Ella Means, and a brother, William Duff, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; a niece, Betty Quinn of South Bend; along with a host of other great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will occur from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Alford's Mortuary. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
