Dorothy D. Hosler, 92, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, in St. Paul's Care Center, South Bend. Mrs. Hosler was born on Oct. 1, 1906, in Kendallville, Ind., as the daughter of the late Guy and Zora (Yarian) Hart.

 

On Aug. 8, 1926, in Kendallville, as the former Dorothy Hart, she married Dave Hosler, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1962. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Hart.

Mrs. Hosler is survived by a son, Douglas Irish (Penny) Hosler of North East, Pa.; a daughter, Diane Kirkpatrick of South Bend; four grandchildren, Scott (Deborah) Kirkpatrick, Matthew (Heidi) Kirkpatrick, Kelly Kirkpatrick (Michael) Broadstreet and Benjamin Kirkpatrick; and by two great-granddaughters, Kristine Kirkpatrick and Nichole Kirkpatrick.

 

Mrs. Hosler and her husband Dave owned and operated Dave's Sporting Goods as well as The Redwood Drive-In before moving to Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1959. She was a Fort Wayne resident from 1959 to 1988, moving to South Bend in 1988. Following her husband's death she was a volunteer at Parkview Hospital. Mrs. Hosler was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Fort Wayne and was a member of the First Methodist Church, Kendallville.

 

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, in Lakeview Cemetery, Kendallville, with Rev. Dan Barker officiating. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hosler may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, Jefferson Medical Arts Building, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., #01, South Bend, IN 46617-3119. The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., is handling arrangements.
