NEW CARLISLE - Clara M. Hostetler, 89, formerly of Fillmore Road in New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 1:30 PM Saturday, February 16, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN. She was born on February 4, 1919, to the late Fredrick and Nellie A. (Taylor) Geissel in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, IN. Along with her parents, two sisters, Mary Mulkey and Loretta Manchow, and two brothers, Fred and Edward Geissel, also preceded her in death.

On April 2, 1949, as Clara M. Geissel, she married David C. Hostetler at Olive Chapel Church in New Carlisle, IN. He died on March 13, 1997. She is survived by two sisters, Ella Spaulding of South Bend, IN, and Esther Harman of Mishawaka, IN; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Ken and Vilma Main of New Carlisle, IN. Mrs. Hostetler was a member of God's Golden Warriors in Rolling Prairie, IN. Clara loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews; she was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed helping her husband around the farm.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday, February 18, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Kaniewski Funeral Home in South Bend. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
