Bert Houck, 40, of 807 Hendricks street, died Sunday afternoon at 5:20 o'clock at his home after a year's illness.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Houck, this city, his wife Ellen Houck, and eight children, Eva, Emma, Louise, Edith, June, George, Charles, and, Virgil, all at home; four brothers, Elmer of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Ray, Carl, and, James of Mishawaka; and two sisters, Mrs. John Huffman and Mrs. Christy Meyers, both of Mishawaka.

Mr. Houck was born in Van Worth <Van Wert>, Ohio, June 18, 1887, and came here from Van Worth 20 years ago.  He was married August 24, 1907, to Ellen DeLong at St. Joseph, Mich.

Funeral services will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. E. A. Cutler, pastor of the River Park Free Methodist church, officiating.  The body will be interred in Fairview cemetery.  The remains have been taken to the Sprague chapel.
