Harley R. Hough Sr.

Feb. 8, 1921 - March 29, 1994

SOUTH BEND - Harley R. Hough Sr., 73, of 3630 Whitcomb Ave., died at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Hough retired from Clark Equipment Co., Buchanan, in production control for 17 years and was employed by Studebaker Corp. for 24 years. He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Fish Lake and was a lifelong area resident.

 

On June 16, 1973, in Baroda, he married Dorothy Bonine. She survives with two sons, Harley R. Jr. of Osceola and Larry E. of Lakeville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his mother, Flora Hough of North Liberty; two sisters, Jean Byland of North Liberty and Joyce Huff of South Bend; and a brother, Joseph of San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 45, Avalon Grotto, Elks Lodge 889, Dowagiac, and was a veteran of the Army Rangers during World War II and received the Purple Heart.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, LaPorte County. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeville Christian Church or American Cancer Society.
