Virginia Houk

Virginia Houk, 72, of 1326 N. Elliott St., died at 9 a.m. Sunday in her home.  She was a self-employed dressmaker.  Born July 23, 1912, in South Bend, she was a lifetime area resident.  In 1969 she married Brinckmann R. Houk, who died March 13, 1983.  Surviving are a son, Robert Skodinski of Mishawaka; two stepdaughters, Monica of Mishawaka, and Mary Coleman of Ohio; two stepsons, John of South Bend, and George of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; several step grandchildren; a step great-granddaughter; a sister, Olga Peltz of South Bend; and a brother, Leo Cwiklinski of Mishawaka.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday.  She was a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance Group 305.
