Isabel Mitchell Howard, 86, of Monroe Street, South Bend, Ind., died on Saturday, March 14, in Saint Joseph Medical Center, South Bend.

She was born on May 22, 1911, in Memphis, Tenn.

As Isabel Mitchell, she married Adolph Howard, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Alfreda Redding of South Bend; three sons, Carlton of Chicago, Ill., Reginald of Memphis and Dean of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dorothy Samuels of Chicago; and by a brother, Fred Mitchell of Utica, New York.

Mrs. Howard was a member and past district president of Mothers of World War II, a volunteer at St. Joseph County Mental Health Association for 15 years, and was a volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center for 23 years.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in Saint Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Funeral services entrusted to the Clark Funeral Chapel.
