Obituary: Anna Howland

Nov. 3, 1923 -- Jan. 7, 2006

                                       

Anna Howland, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday morning, January 7, 2006, in Bremen Health Care Center.

Anna was born November 3, 1923, in Mishawaka; a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Wojca) Kedik. She grew up in Mishawaka, where she lived her entire life. Anna worked at Ball Band and Bendix in her earlier years. For many years she was a cook at Smorgasbord Restaurant. Anna enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a good cook; pies being her specialty. Anna was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed flower gardening and was a good dancer. She was a generous person and many times could be found helping the neighbors in their lawns.

Anna's surviving family includes her three children, Larry (Sheri) Howland of Mishawaka, Richard (Dottie) Howland, Jr. of South Bend and Mariann (Harry) McPhail of Osceola; two brothers, John (Barb) Kedik of South Bend and George (Lori) Kedik of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Alan McPhail, Stephanie Hostetler, Kimberlee Clements, Staycie Howland, Joshua Howland, Cassandra Howland, Jacob Howland, Kenneth Howland, Jr., and Keri Roberts; and 16 great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Howland; six sisters, Irene, Dorothy, Margaret, Helen, Mary and Olga; and by two brothers, Frank and Mike.

Friends may spend time with Anna's family on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with, Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Bremen Health Care Center. Envelopes are available in the funeral home
