Sister Mariola Howland CSC

Sister Mariola CSC, 66, died in St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, Sunday after an illness of several years. She was born as Loretta Howland in Jackson, Mich. in 1890, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1911. She made her final profession of vows in 1917. She taught for several years in St. Joseph Grade School, and later taught music in the order’s provincial house at St. Mary’s College. She retired because of illness in 1950.

A requiem high mass will be held at St. Mary’s campus church Tuesday morning.
