SOUTH BEND - Jean Elizabeth Hoyt, 93, of Waterford at
Edison Lakes passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008, at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She retired from Crowe
Chizek following 18 years of service as an executive assistant to
one of the partners. Jean was born on November 8, 1914, in
Indianapolis, IN to Walter Benjamin and Blanche (Reese) Boyd,
coming to South Bend in 1937. Mrs. Hoyt is survived by two sons,
Daniel D. (Judith) Hoyt of Indianapolis, IN and David A. Hoyt of
New Rochelle, NY; a daughter-in-law, Anne Hoyt of Royal Oak, MI;
eleven grandchildren, Dave Hoyt, Dan Hoyt Jr., Jean Ann Reist,
Patrick Hoyt, Mary Egan Brown, Father Mary David Hoyt,
Kathleen Zoellner, Elizabeth Craft, Sam Hoyt, Peter
Hoyt and John Hoyt; and 19 great-grandchildren. One sister, One
E. Dieckman; and one brother, Maurice J. Boyd preceded her
in death. Jean was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at
Butler University, Indianapolis; and a member of Morris Park
Country Club. She was an avid golfer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, at Unity Church of Peace, 905 E. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46617. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 12 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend and at the church on Monday, Oct. 13 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Contributions in memory of Jean E. Hoyt may be made to Unity Church of Peace, South Bend or to Marian College, Indianapolis for "Rebuild my Church" Fund.
