Shirlene K. Hulben

May 14, 1942 - Nov. 24, 1999

SOUTH BEND — Shirlene K. Hulben, 57, of Oakdale Avenue, passed away unexpectedly at 7:06 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, in Memorial Hospital.

Shirlene was born on May 14, 1942, in South Bend, and had lived here her entire life except the time that she spent in the United States Navy. On Jan. 13, 1964, in Norfolk, Va., she married Joseph N. Hulben of South Bend, who survives.

Surviving besides her husband are five daughters, Kimberly Hodges of South Bend, Judith Hulben of North Baltimore, Ohio, Kathryn (Delbert) Luipold of Merrillville, Ind., Annette (Kenneth) Conklin of Tupelo, Miss., and Deborah (Ed) Hendrix of Scott City, Mo.; and a son, Raymond J.L. Huben of Mishawaka, Ind.; and nine grandchildren, Cory S. Wagner, Shirlene A. Plaza, Joseph J. Nelson, Amy L. Hodges, Jamie K. Hodges, Stephanie L. Hodges, Anthony M. Luipold, Kristin M. Hassan and Erica S. Bates.

She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Ladies Auxillary of Veterans of Foreign Wars #9820 and was a Naval veteran.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church, Darden Road and Indiana 933. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the McGann Funeral Homes, Council Oak Gardens Chapel, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, near Portage, where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
