Stuart M. Hummel, age 77, of 2455 Ponce DeLeon Parkway, Avon Park, Florida, passed away at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday, February 9th, at Florida Hospital Heartland, Sebring, Florida.

 

He was born the son of Arthur A. and Bessie N. (Nolen) Hummel on April 11, 1922, in St. Joseph County, IN. On April 12, 1940, he married Blanche (Smith) in St. Joseph County, IN.

 

A retired farmer, Mr. Hummel moved to Florida in 1966. He was a member of High Twelve, Highlands Shrine Club, Avon Park, FL. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge # 353, Lakeville; Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend; Orak Temple A.A.O.O.M.S., Michigan City; Production Credit Services in Indiana, serving on the board of directors for twenty years; and Florida Avenue Baptist Church, Avon Park, Florida.

He is survived by his wife; 4 daughters, Teresa (Stanton) Splix, Plymouth, Kay (Roy) Miller, Plymouth, Jolene (Stephen) Capes, Bremen, Elaine (Paul) Ringer, Plymouth; one son, Dennis (Lil) Hummel, Avon Park, FL; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Millard D. Hummel, South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Ernest, and one granddaughter, Sandra Splix.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Peters of Olive Branch United Brethren Church will officiate.

 

Burial will be at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m.
