SOUTH BEND - Carl E. Hummer, 77, of 16180 Elmwood Ave., died at 2:20 a.m. today in his home of natural causes. Mr. Hummer retired in 1981 from Dodge Division of Reliance Electric Co., Mishawaka, after 15 years of service. He was born March 29, 1916, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Nov. 24, 1936, in Rochester, he married Ellen Johnson. She survives with three daughters, Sharron Stoner of Granger, Carol Hummer of Mishawaka, and Barbara Schlemmer of South Bend; two grandsons; two sisters, Helen Ansted of Mishawaka and Mary Amberg of South Bend; and a brother, Floyd of San Dimas, Calif. He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
